L.A Colors Matte Lipstick – Classy Review

L.A Colors Matte Lipstick – Classy

(Author ~ Sanchita)

L.A Colors is launched in India and I loved the array of colors they provide under the matte range. The shade card is impressive – it has wearable MLBB for every skin tone, reds, pinks, dark browns and purple. Therefore, with so many colors to choose from, you will be spoilt for choice. I picked up an MLBB color and few dark shades from the range. Since it is almost summer, I am trying out the go-to MLBB shades and the shade “Classy” is surely a great one for Indian skin tones. Read on to know more about the shade.

PRICE – Rs. 395 for 3.5 g

MY REVIEW

Packaging – The L.A Colors Matte Lipstick has a very mediocre packaging, to be honest. It comes in a part black and color coded packaging with the brand name inscribed on in in white fonts. The cap is transparent and enables you to see the shade easily. But, the lipstick bullet do not completely go inside and thus it is easily scratched while closing the cap, if you are not extra careful. My lipstick is already damaged on top so I am very happy with the packaging. Overall, the lipstick is light weight, efficient and works properly.

Shade – The shade “Classy” is a very warm brown with very slight pinkish undertone to it. It stands true to its name and one of the prettiest MLBB color in my stash. Also, this is a very close dupe of Smashbox Be Legendary lipstick in Safe Word. However, the color may wash out NC45 and above. My skin tone is NC42 and it goes perfect for my go-to office lip color. It neither looks deeper nor washes me out. Thus, the lipstick is well suitable for fair to fair-medium skin tones. For NC45 and above, there are other shades like Mysterious, Tender, In Love and Bewitched from the same range.

Pigmentation – The pigmentation is good and you need you swipe for the color to show up properly on the lips. Despite being an MLBB shade, it covers the discolorations on my lips pretty well and evens out. Sometimes, I do use a lip liner to give a plump effect but the lip liner is not a necessary one for this lipstick.

Texture – The texture reminds me so much of my Chambor Powder Matte Lipsticks. It has a smooth and semi-creamy texture and glides without tugging or pulling of the lips. It doesn’t comes across patchy at all and looks pretty even. Since this lipstick falls under the ‘matte’ category, it is well advised to exfoliate and nourish the lips beforehand. It will look uneven if the lips are not prepped properly. Otherwise, won’t accentuate fine lines or stick to the dry patches. The lipstick is decently comfortable for dry lips.

Finish and formula – The finish is powder matte but not the uncomfortable type. The formula is good for an affordable matte lipstick. It does transfer slightly but nothing excessive. The formula is also cruelty free. However, it may feel slightly dry after long hours of wearing it.

Longevity – The longevity of the lip color is good and stays for about 5hrs and above for me. It survives little munching and drinking but you are having proper oily food, then it starts breaking down from the centre of the lips. Also, with a lip liner underneath, the longevity is increased. For the price, this is a great option for affordable powder matte lip color.

OVERALL – The L.A Colors Matte Lipstick Classy, is a beautiful warm brown color, comes in a black twist up packaging and has a creamy smooth texture. The pigmentation is good with two swipes and gives a powder matte finish to the lips without getting uncomfortable. It is long wearing and has an economical price tag with a wide range of eye-catching colors.
